John Petersburg

I am pleased to announce my endorsement as candidate for District 24A for Minnesota House of Representatives. I look forward to the possibility of serving our district and would like to introduce myself to you.

As a lifelong resident of the area, I have taken opportunities to serve the community, businesses and families in different capacities, including serving on the Claremont/Triton School Board, board member of the Minnesota School Board Association, a member of Steele Waseca Cooperative Electric advisory board, council member of Trinity Lutheran Church, and as treasurer of the Southeast Minnesota Synod of the ELCA. I am passionate about using these experiences to represent and serve you in the Minnesota House of Representatives.

Farming north of Claremont, living in Waseca, and working in Owatonna allows me to understand what is important to our area communities and residents. The success of our local businesses is essential to keeping our communities healthy. Ensuring small business growth, along with protecting our businesses and citizens from unnecessary tax increases is a goal we must achieve. Fair and equitable school funding is also crucial to the future of our communities. We often hear that our children are our future, I would submit that our children are our present. We must invest the necessary resources (equitable funding and effective policies) in our children to ensure their present and future success. In addition to all these, we must also search out and implement sustainable healthcare options.

We are fortunate to live in an area where the citizens have a sincere interest in making our communities great places to live, work and raise families. By minimizing large government and returning authority back to local governments, better decisions can be made to serve the interests of our communities.
